Overview
Insightful Spending Initiative is a digital banking UX concept focused on helping users better understand and manage their monthly spending. Through transaction analysis and user research, I identified challenges around tracking expenses, understanding spending patterns, and receiving timely financial insights.

Problem

Users struggle to effectively track and understand their spending
behavior within existing digital banking platforms.

Current experiences lack financial clarity, proactive insights,
and personalized budgeting support leading to confusion, overspending, and reduced financial awareness.

Solution

Designed a personalized spending insights dashboard that organizes transactions into meaningful categories, visualizes spending patterns, and surfaces key financial insights to help users better understand their spending.

Goals

Help Lloyds customers better understand, manage, and improve their spending habits through a more intelligent, personalized, and user-friendly digital banking experience

What I 'have change

DECISION 1 : CATEGORY-BASED SPENDING INSIGHTS

Users could view every transaction but struggled to understand their overall spending pattern. I prioritized spending insights and category breakdowns to provide instant financial clarity with less effort.

Decision 2 : Budgeting and Saving goals

Since traditional banking apps show the same generic information to everyone, I designed goal tracking based on each user's habits, helping them stay on track toward what matters most to them.

DESIGN DECISION 3 : PREDICTIVE ALERT

DESIGN DECISION 3 : PREDICTIVE ALERT

Users often exceeded their budget only after overspending, so I introduced proactive budgeting features like budget progress tracking and spending alerts, helping users make informed decisions before financial issues occurred instead of after.

Outcome

A dashboard experience that gave users clarity into their spending, helped them act before overspending instead of after, and laid a reusable foundation for future financial features.

Placement
Put it where users already look
Balance checking was the feature people used most. So I put spending next to the balance, not in a new tab. 5 of 18 balance checkers found the app hard to use, so a hidden tab was the wrong place.
